Chaos In A Bustling Life

With thoughts of the upcoming weekend running through my head, something stirred in me to discuss what the weekend means to me.

It is the end of the work week. The end of bustling chaos. The dissipation of the desire to rip the heads off your co-workers. A reprieve from Monday morning traffic. It is a time to sleep in a little, provided the children allow you to. It is a time to snuggle up close to your loved one, be it day or night, and revel in the love you share. A time to take a quiet walk, hand in hand, and talk about whatever that comes to mind. Perhaps even a time to get away from the chaos of the world for a few days, and treat yourselves to a very short vacation.

But while those ideas, and so many more, sound wonderful on a weekend, why can't some of them be accomplished during the week as well? I believe all too often we become enmeshed in our every day lives, in work, in bills, in the chaos of life, and we forget the simple things which matter so much. It is those simple pleasures which make life so worth living, so exciting, so refreshing, and so very loving.

Perhaps it is time we each remembered those simple pleasures in life, and embraced them daily, rather than only on the weekends. I think we forget what is truly important in life, and allow the chaos of the world to work its way into our lives; to become consumed by that which truly does not matter. What matters most is our families, our loved ones, the love between a parent and a child, as well as the love a husband and wife share for one another. To share a sunset, or a sunrise with those you love, to simply sit down at the dinner table and talk about the day's events, or to share your own hopes and dreams with those you love...those are merely some of the things that are important in life. Remember those simple things, for they have a way of putting life back into perspective when the doom and gloom of the world come crashing down upon our heads.

I agree, I don't think we should postpone the very meaningful things at all. Perhaps if we give them the time and focus we really want to we won't want to be ripping off the heads of our co-workers!

Good idea you have here. Not sure I'd know what to do if we all weren't cranky on Monday morning haha

Simple things mean the most to our family. We are in the process of remembering that very thing. Thanks for sharing your views.

Nice thoughts Abe. Usually too much planned on weekends to get much of what you suggest done, but do try occasionally. Although the things I do on the weekends are always with or for my family so I'm content with that. Thanks for a very nice article.

You make a good choice by spending time with family. Not a lot of people do anymore.
